Her lines were written by others … until she rewrote her part.
We champion independent films that push back against stereotypical portrayals of underrepresented perspectives, especially those of women of color. We produce stories that lean into the paradoxes of modern womanhood and the layered truths they hold.
Channeling the feminine, transformative power of its namesake, Durga reimagines the world through an instinctive and unapologetic female gaze.
At Durga, we believe culture thrives within stories told with authenticity and soul. But too often, the culture we see reflected in film, in its stories, its images, and the ways it represents us, has drifted out of balance, diminished by the absence of the feminine.
Too often, what is called “feminine” remains narrowly defined, limiting its true power and meaning. We speak of the feminine not as gender alone but as a vital dimension: creative, intuitive, and restorative, long misunderstood, silenced, or erased.
We are committed to reclaiming this dimension. We foster voices that might otherwise go unheard, favoring original stories shaped by women’s lived truths. By centering the feminine, we seek to restore the soul of culture and invite greater compassion, depth, and wholeness into the stories that shape our world.
